FAQ

One gigabyte (GB) is roughly 1,000 megabytes. It is a measure of how much data you can download or upload over mobile internet—not how fast your connection is.

It depends on what you do. Light messaging and maps use little data; HD video streaming uses much more. Our calculator uses typical ranges to suggest a plan size.

Ten GB is enough for many travelers for a week or two if you mostly browse, use maps, and stream music occasionally. Heavy video streaming will use it faster.

For light use (maps, messaging, some email), 1 GB can be enough for a day. If you stream video or join long video calls, you will likely need more.

Roughly, standard-definition video might use about 1 GB per hour, while HD can use 2–3 GB per hour or more. So 50 GB might be many hours of SD video but far less in 4K.

YouTube usage depends on resolution. Lower quality uses less; 1080p and 4K use significantly more. On Wi‑Fi when possible saves mobile data.

Video calls typically use more data than audio-only. Expect roughly hundreds of MB per hour for video, depending on quality and network efficiency.
